Top 10 Amazing Facts About Your Heart

⊆ January 29th, 2008 by jonluigi | ˜ 15 Comments »

Good Day again my friends, my sharing for this morning is a bout my heart, your heart and every bodies heart. It just happen that my heart is not really functioning well, i feel chest pain and shortness of breath this morning… so i decided to search to my favorite site about what i feel. I search about “heart” i come up with this topic “Top 10 amazing Facts about your Heart”. I will share it with you guys and I hope it can enlighten your heart and mind.

Top 10 Amazing Facts About Your Heart

10. Sex Appeal - If you can’t make it to the gym, try fooling around. Your heart might thank you. A study of 2,500 men aged 49 to 54 found that having an orgasm at least three times a week cut in half the likelihood of death from coronary heart disease. And barring underlying health issues and the possibility of contracting a sexually transmitted disease, sex can give you a workout. By some estimates, a vigorous sex session can double a person’s heart rate and burn up about 200 calories, or the equivalent of a brisk 15-minute run.

9. Female Hearts - Girls rule in some matters of the heart, but when it comes to research into cardiovascular disease it’s the guys who come into the spotlight. For decades, heart disease and heart attacks have been viewed as a man’s illness. But this is far from the truth. Heart disease kills 500,000 American women each year, topping male numbers by 50,000. Another gender gap: Women don’t tend to experience the Hollywood-standard heart attack in which gripping chest pain sends you keeling over.

8. Heart Mend - A love-torn heart can be painful enough to make you wish you could get a new heart or at least a cardio repair kit. Both of the latter options could some day be realities. Scientists are studying the red-spotted newt to help them develop cell therapies for humans with physically damaged hearts. This amphibian can turn its cells back in time, as if they were stem cells, in order to build up new heart muscle.

7. Heart-to-Heart - A seemingly sheepish look from Fido or that endearing brush-by from your cat can make you wonder if your pet could possibly communicate with you. A recent study adds equine friends to the list of emotionally-responsive animals. A scientist found that horse’s heart rates mirror those of human subjects touching them. The horse emotion-detector could someday replace procedures used to measure a patient’s stress hormones.

6. Big Hearts - Some people really do have bigger hearts than others. Rather than a sign of affection, an enlarged heart can signal underlying heart disease. The most common type, called dilated cardiomyopathy, occurs when the heart’s chambers stretch out and enlarge. The bulging saps the heart’s pump power, depriving the body’s organs of enough blood. If left untreated, a big heart can lead to heart failure.

5. LOL: It’s Good for You - A hearty laugh the kind that sends a stream of tears from your eyes does more than warm the soul. Research has shown the guffaw can cause the lining of blood vessel walls called endothelium to relax, increasing blood flow for up to 45 minutes after the laugh attack.

4. Drink to Your Heart - A glass of Merlot can go straight to the heart, and recent research shows that so too can the white variety. Scientists have attributed the heart benefits of reds to grape skins, which are chock full of certain antioxidants. Since the purple-hued skins get removed to make Chardonnays, many scientists had assumed white wine likely wouldn’t do the heart any good. A lab experiment on rats showed that a grape’s pulp conceals cardio-protective compounds that rival those found in reds. Red or white? Just follow your heart.

3. Powerful Pump - In under a minute, your heart can pump blood to every cell in your body. And over the course of a day, about 100,000 heart beats shuttle 2,000 gallons of oxygen-rich blood many times through about 60,000 miles of branching blood vessels that link together the cells of our organs and body parts.

2. Broken Heart - A broken heart can cause one to swoon. A breakup with a loved one or news of a family death literally can lead to broken hearts in the form of heightened risk for heart attack, studies have shown. Such trauma can also trigger the release of stress hormones into the bloodstream that temporarily “stun” the heart. The resulting symptoms mimic those of a heart attack - chest pain and shortness of breath - but this type of achy heart can bounce back in days with some TLC and rest.

1. Love Sign - Weighing in at 10 ounces, the blood-filled muscle called the heart has become the universal symbol of love. The Greeks believed the heart was the seat of the spirit, the Chinese associated it with the center for happiness and the Egyptians thought the emotions and intellect arose from the heart. No one is sure the exact origin of the love association, however. One idea is that the heart got its “love mark” in the ancient Greek city of Cyrene, now in modern-day Libya. The colony was known for a plant called Silphium, with heart-shaped seed pods. Silphium had medicinal properties, and possibly also was used as an herbal contraceptive.

That’s it… that’s the top 10 amazing facts about my heart. So now i have some idea what are the cause of some heart pain. Guys hope it can help and hope to post more info next time…and u can suggest also what u want me to post…

Top 10 Bad Things That Are Good For You

⊆ January 25th, 2008 by jonluigi | ˜ 8 Comments »

I’m in my office desk this morning… and it was boring, so i decided to browse the internet, and i find something interesting topic to share with.

Top 10 Bad things that are good for you, well i like this topic cause when i started reading it i told myself that this topic are true.. so guys here are the top 10.

10. BEER - The newest bad kid on the block, beerhas long been overshadowed by its healthier alcoholic cousins. While no one’s suggesting you switch that glass of antioxidant-rich Pinot Noir for a tall glass of lagerethere’s still that beer gut to worry  research has suggested that moderate beer intake can actually improve cardiovascular function.

9. ANGER - Studies show that bursts of anger here and there are good for the health, and can be an even more effective coping mechanism than becoming afraid, irritated or disgusted. Anger, like the consumables in this list, however, is best in moderation: stay angry for long periods of time and you’ll be plagued with a host of health issues, like blood pressure, sleep disorders and lung damage.

8. COFFEE - Studies claim coffee is a major source of antioxidantsin our diet and can help lower your risk of diabetes. Something in the beans is also thought to ease the onset of cirrhosis of the liver and pancreatitis, good news for those who like to party hard all night before their morning caffeine boost.

7. LSD-  In heavy drinkers, small doses of LSD have been thought to help bypass the rock-bottom stage of alcoholism and prevent relapses. These studies some decades old were done in closely monitored, clinical settings; many patients haven’t had a drink in the many years since.  Meantime and this may come as no surprise a recent study of 36 volunteers who took an LSD-like drug in a lab setting had them reporting mystical experiences and behavior changes that lasted for weeks.

6. SUNLIGHT - Exposure to the sun’s rays is necessary to survive, but can also kill you in gross, cancerous quantities. Asthmatics, at least, could benefit from measured doses of ultraviolet rays, according to scientists. Extra sunlight can help office workers avoid afternoon drowsiness, a recent study found.

5. MAGGOTS - These squirmy larvae are science’s newest wonder-cure and were approved in 2003 as the Food & Drug Administration’s only live medical device. Placed on serious wounds, maggots mimic their “wild” lifestyle and munch on bacteria and dead tissue, stimulating healing and helping to prevent infection.

4. MARIJUANA - It’s medicinal, we swear! Marijuana, often associated with memory loss, is ironically now being hypedas a way to stave off the ultimate form of memory loss Alzheimer’s. Recent studies on mice suggest that anti-inflammatory found in the drug prevent the clumping of brain proteins, one major cause of the disease. So when should you start preventative therapy?

3. RED WINE- A crucial ingredient in the diets of the world’s heart-healthiest populations like those Bordeaux-guzzling French red wine has long been known to have potent anti-cancer and artery-protecting benefits. The key, some studies indicate, is an antioxidant found specifically in the skin of red wine grapes, called resveratrol. The latest studies even link resveratrol to greater endurance, a reduction in gum disease and Alzheimer’s.

2. CHOCOLATE - Chocolate lovers rejoice: study after study lately has touted the magical benefits of the indulgent treat, which is packed with the antioxidant flavonols that prevent certain cancers and keep your arteries from clogging. The most recent news? These powerful chemicals may even increase blood flow to the brain, warding off dementia.

1. SEX - Scientists have found that the benefits of sex go beyond immediate, ahem, gratification and satisfying the goal of procreation. Besides the obvious evolutionary purposes, we can all take pleasure in the news that having sex is an easy way to reduce stress, lower cholesterol and improve circulation throughout the body. As if you needed another excuse.

So that’s the top 10 “Bad things that are good for you” I didn’t know that sex is bad.. hehehe, i know that its good “FOR ME” hahaha …..

Latest Gadget of 2008

⊆ January 23rd, 2008 by jonluigi | ˜ 9 Comments »

Hello guys…. i have nothing to do this morning.. so i decided to come up with this topic ” Latest Gadget of 2008″ well.. some of us know that this generation is like cellphones, computers, online gaming, videos and others.. so i decided to share some of my research what are the new gadget for this year…  ok here’s the first dadget i will share to you..

Cowon’s iAudio U5 coming to USA

1-11-08-iaudio_u5.jpg

Cowon’s iAudio U5 has been released since last September 2007, however it’s still not available in the States. Nevertheless, this cool and stylish little DAP is apparently making its way to the USA for those who like to avoid the me-too crowd. Sports a 1.8-inch 160 x 128 resolution LCD, up to a full day of battery life, 4GB / 8GB of internal memory, MP3 / WMA / WAV playback, a built-in FM radio and voice recorder, user adjustable five-band EQ and USB connectivity. Good enough for you? Then save your savings up to $149.99 / $109.99 to snag one in 8GB or 4GB, respectively.

Alienware show off their awesomeness curved DLP display

At Las Vegas CES, Alienware introduce their new curved DLP display that will be available in the second half of the year. The picture above is just the late engineering prototype; everything from the internals to the casing is probably going to change. There are four LED-backlit DLP projectors inside, which explains the lines in the image above, but the final version will show a seamless image. The ideal viewing position is directly in the middle at about two feet away. That’s when the image seamlessly appears to wrap all the way around your vision, and it’s just as sweet as you’d expect. This is probably the best monitor for games like 3D shooting, racing, etc. Pricing information is still infuriatingly non-specific: the best we got was “more than a 17-inch flat panel and less than a Kia.”

USB 3.0 show off at CES 2008

usb308.jpg

usb314.jpg

Not long, USB 2.0 will no longer install in your PC anymore because USB 3.0 is coming and spotted at CES 2008 in Vegas. With speeds of 4.8 Gbit/s (600 MB/s), and a powering system which intelligently cuts the juice when you’re not using a device, we have a feeling you’ll want. Too bad we all have to wait till 2010, 2 years more till we can use USB 3.0.

Sony will bring Skype to PSP

psp_skype.jpg

It’s hasn’t went official yet, but it looks like Sony will indeed bring Skype to PSP. According to Reuters, Sony is “planning to add an internet phone function” (that’d be Skype) to its PSP in order to “stir up demand,” which wouldn’t be a half bad idea considering how the DS seems to be hogging the limelight of late. Purportedly, the software could become available “as early as this month,” and while Sony spokesman Satoshi Fukuoka declined to comment on the rumblings, he did note that the company was “studying ways to add value to the PSP.” Are you thinking what we’re thinking?

PETER ANSWER MAGIC TRICKS REVEALED

⊆ January 21st, 2008 by jonluigi | ˜ 13 Comments »
Peteranswers.com: The Magic Tricks Revealed

(by: Chriswondra.com)

First, instead of typing in the petition box, “Peter, please answer the . . .” begin by instead typing:

“.”

That’s right. Simply type a period. What happens next is pure magical genius.

Instead of seeing what you’d expect (a “.”) you see a “P”. Then type whatever the heck you want and the rest of the phrase “Peter, please answer the following” appears.

As long as nobody pays any attention to where your fingers are actually landing the prank works slick.

The trick to the prank is to here type in the answer to whatever question you are going to ask next. When you’re done just keep typing until the phrase is complete. Whenever you hit the “:” your cursor will jump to the next box–where you’ll type in the actual question.

Hit return and bingo! Whatever you really typed into the petition box appears.

peteranswers.com and peter answers for advanced users

Once you get the hang of how peteranswers.com works, it won’t be long before you run into a little snag. The problem is, sometimes your answer is much shorter (has fewer characters to type) than the 41 keystrokes it takes to type “peter please answer the following question”:

There are actually three ways to solve this problem:

  1. Type another “.” When you do this, the program opens back up and shows exactly what you are typing again. For example, if your “answer” was “Lisa.” That’s only 4 keystrokes, which would take you to “Pete” in the petition. Just type another “.” after the last letter of your answer. Now you’ll have “Peter” and from now on you can continue typing the rest of the petition, “please answer the following question:”
  2. Another option is to fake it until you get to “Peter, please answer.” You don’t have to keep punching keys until the entire long petition is filled out. Just remember to type the “:” when you’re done.
  3. The final way to make this work is to simply play dumb. Pretend you lost control of your fingers and type a “:” when you’re done. As soon as you type the “:” you’ll skip to the next box. Just say “oops” or something and keep going.

So there, my dear friends. The truth has set you free. Once the mystery of peteranswers.com is solved, the novelty wears off pretty quickly doesn’t it?

And if you’re a school teacher, it’s really fun to watch two things:

1) The air escaping from the Peter Answers carriers as they lose their power, and

2) The enlightenment of one who only recently had been losing their minds in a state of confused awe.

What? Still don’t get it? Well how about this? What follows is the absolute best of the best . A complete collection of the best Peter Answers tutorials available on the web. Can’t do much better than that can we?

To start off here, first I present to you a YouTube Peter Answers video shot by a kid. The video itself is terrible, but I love the kids accent and language. It’s only about 3 minutes long so go check it out.

Not good enough? Boy tough crowd. Ok. Try this next link on for size. WikiHow has the absolute best explanation on the web about how to do Peter Answers, and how Peter Answers really works.

Alright, surly you get it now right? No? Fine. More of a visual learner. Great. Check out this next YouTube video and I promise without a doubt you will be working Peter Answers like a wizard. This Peter Answers Video Tutorial, unlike the one above is short, sweet, and very excellent. This guy does a perfect job explaining this trick.

Now stop dilly dallying and get on over to the real Peter Answers web site and have some fun!

A little about myself

⊆ January 21st, 2008 by jonluigi | ˜ 6 Comments »

Good Day to all…. I will introduce my self… i’m Jon Luigi i’m from the Philippines

The reason why i put a blog or making a blog… well my friend told be about this long time ago and they told me it was fun and challenging, u can get ideas from other bloggers and find some useful term so that you can apply it to your daily life. Before i didnt mind about this so called “Blog” until I search and find out some top ten reason’s why i should blog. so

so here it is.. hope it can change ur life too… well for me… i’m just starting to change my life… *wink*

Top Ten Reasons Why You Should Blog

10. Because you stopped learning anything new a couple years ago and it’s about time you started again.

Or as Karyn Romeis & Barry Sampson both said - I’ve learned more via blogging over the past year than I learned in the preceding several years!

9. Because it forces you to do your homework (Rodolpho Arruda)

8. Because this is how you are going to learn in the future.

“This is the difference represented in the shift from traditional classroom based learning and network learning. The idea of the latter is that learning occurs when the learner immerses him or herself in a community of practice, learning by performing authentic tasks, learning by interacting with and becoming a member of the community.” (Stephen Downes)

7. Because if you don’t we’ll think you’re lame and don’t know how to do your job.

“What can you know about a professional who doesn’t blog his or her work? How do you know they are competent, that they have the respect of their peers, that they understand the issues, that they practice sound methodology, that they show consideration for their clients? You cannot know any of this without the openness blogging (or equivalent) provides. Which means, once a substantial number begin to share, there will be increasing pressure on all to share.” (Stephen Downes)

6. Because it will change your life.

“there is something that happens to a person when they hit that “publish” button - you cross a threshold - you move from consumer to producer - you put your intellectual neck on the line and I really think that you aren’t the same person after that.” (Mark Oehlert)

5. Because you’ll hook up all over the place.

“all learning professionals need to exchange ideas with others, to test their ideas, to question their assumptions, to learn from each other in ways that come with dialog. Blogging is great for forming networks based on weak social ties.” (Bill Bruck)

4. Because learning is conversation and that blogging lets you have more and better conversations (Harold Jarche)

“The lack of formality and the ease of cross-referencing other blog content or references means is great to accelerate discussion and promote broader thinking and understanding.” (David Wilson)

3. Because Professionalism is more than consumption, it is contribution. (Rovy Bronson)

2. Because it’s “a swap meet for the mind.” (Nancy White)

1. Because your job depends on it.

“If for no other reason than your job is changing, and you might want to be engaged in the process of what your new job will include.” (Brent Shlenker) and “They don’t get what blogs are about and possibly never will. We just need to encourage them towards retirement.” (Barry Sampson)

so it’s ur choice….

(Listen, Understand, Apply)
